What is the Social Development Center?
We at the Social Development Center are immensely proud of what we have been able to accomplish over the past 15 years
Executive Director, Social Development Center
The Social Development Center (SDC) actively promotes the role of the family as the basic building block of society. Established in 1996, it works to empower people by providing a holistic approach to education, training and support through targeted business, community and career programs.
Entrepreneurs and self-sustaining businesses
SDC works to assist up-and-coming entrepreneurs by giving them the training they need to excel in their chosen trade or profession.
In addition, it provides support services in the form of interest-free loans, with easy repayment schemes, to help budding entrepreneurs implement and run self-sustaining businesses.
Individuals can also take part in vocational training courses to help them prepare for the workplace.Vital support for families
SDC strives to help those in the community who are most in need. Low-income families registered with SDC are given free medical assistance, low priced foodstuffs and items such as furniture and clothes.
SDC also administers the Tarahum Endowment Fund, which provides vital support to families where it is needed most. This fund helps women such as divorcees, widows and prisoners’ wives who are the principal provider for their families. The Fund also helps families who are unable to afford to pay for higher education for their children.
