What is Lakom Al Karar?
We are trying to reach out to young people and encourage them to participate in debate and discussion surrounding important issues facing Qatari and Arab society.
First aired in 2006, Lakom Al Karar (The Decision is Yours) is now one of Qatar’s most popular television programs.
This groundbreaking Arabic language series is designed to encourage a culture of open debate and discussion among young Qataris between the ages of 16 and 30, giving them a voice and a platform to address and engage with issues of national importance.
High profile guests
Presented by Abdul Aziz al Is’haq, Lakom Al Karar gives young people a direct line of communication with key decision-makers such as politicians, economists and representatives from leading civic institutions and organizations in Qatar.
Guests on the show have included His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Heir Apparent; His Excellency Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabr Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar; and His Excellency Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, Deputy Prime Minister for Energy and Industry.
Broadcast once a month throughout the school year, the shows enable young people in Qatar to debate the issues that affect them and conclude with a live audience vote.
