Arab and Islamic Heritage Library main goal is to achieve Qatar Foundation’s strategic objectives by acquire, preserve and accessibility for the Arab and Islamic cultural heritage. This consists of rare books, manuscripts, maps, magazines, newspapers and others.

Arab and Islamic Heritage Library is an outstanding cultural landmark in Qatar. The rare collections of the Library exhibit the depth and wealth of the Arab and Islamic civilizations, and demonstrate the extensive contribution of Arab and Muslim scientists, thinkers and pioneers to our global intellectual heritage.
Sheikh Hassan Bin Mohammed Bin Ali Al-Thani, a prominent researcher who is devoted to the study of the history and culture of Arabia in addition to a wider interest in culture, began collecting these materials in the early 1980s. In 2006, the library was annexed to Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development.
Arab and Islamic Heritage Library has 2 main sections:

Arabic Section: About 85000 items includes manuscripts, books, magazines and newspapers in different fields of research and arts, some dating to the fifteenth century till the Mid-twentieth century.
- Foreign Section: About 25000 items includes books, periodicals and maps reflect on the whole interest of the Orientalists and European travelers and explorers of the Arab and Islamic heritage, some dating to the Mid-fifteenth century.
Did you know?
- The Arab and Islamic Heritage Library will occupy a specially designed space within the new Central Library of Qatar Foundation in 2013.
