QATAR SOLAR TECHNOLOGIES (QSTec)

Qatar Solar Technologies (QSTec) was launched in 2010 and will be the first polysilicon production facility in the Middle East. QSTec is a joint venture between Qatar Foundation (70%), SolarWorld AG (29%) and the Qatar Development Bank (1%) and will produce 3,600 tons per year of polysilicon for export to the world solar energy markets. QSTec is strategically located at the crossroads of Europe and Asia in Qatar's Ras Laffan Industrial City. Our convenient location enables us to rapidly service the growing solar markets of Asia, Europe and the Middle East and Qatar's advanced infrastructure means the markets of the USA and Australia are within easy reach.
The polysilicon QSTec produces is transformed into products that enable solar power and reduce CO2 emissions.

Quality, efficiency, protection of the environment and the use of modern technology are extremely important to QSTec and our customers. QSTec will be using the latest Siemens process technology from Centrotherm Photovoltaics. This is a closed loop system where gases are recycled for use again rather than being vented into the atmosphere making it more environmentally friendly and efficient whilst producing the high quality polysilicon demanded by our customers.

The polysilicon QSTec produces enables solar power. Our polysilicon is developed into solar energy products that harness the sun's abundant energy, reduce CO2 emissions and help protect the environment for generations to come.

Located in Ras Laffan construction of the plant will begin in 2010 and be completed in 2012.
