LIBRARIES


Qatar Foundation attaches great importance to libraries as an important source of learning. Learning through the use of libraries encourages students to hone skills that will benefit them in later life.  It encourages analytical thinking and promotes research work.

Qatar Foundation's Central Library is scheduled to open in 2012. It will be open to schools, universities, research institutes, and various community development organizations from within and outside Education City.  Designed by the internationally acclaimed architect Rem Koolhaas, this spectacular facility will offer a rich collection of print and digital resources, and state-of-the-art technological capabilities.

Central Library

Central Library Vision & Mission

Vision
The Central Library at the Qatar Foundation will improve and enrich society in both the State of Qatar and the world by serving as the premier information resource for the nation. The Library will provide and share its expansive print and digital collections. The Central Library will provide users with the skills and tools they need to use information effectively and ethically, to create new knowledge, to enrich their lives, to improve their education and to achieve their personal and professional aspirations. The Library will stand as the embodiment of the importance of knowledge and education in Qatar and symbolizes Qatar's commitment to contribute to the betterment of the world. One of the most important goals for the Central Library as part of the Qatar Foundation is to create a knowledge based society which strongly values education and research. The Central Library will take a leadership role in meeting Qatar Foundation's ambitious goals by becoming an outstanding academic, research, public and national library.

Mission Statement
The Central Library provides the people of Qatar with information resources and the skills needed to lead and participate fully in a knowledge based society.

The Academic Bridge Program Library

The Academic Bridge Program library collects English-language materials in various formats. The focus is on reference materials, literature, science and introductions to the various disciplines taught at Education City universities.

The Carnegie Mellon University Library

The Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar library supports programs in business administration, computer science and information systems, as well as the Executive Entrepreneurship Certificate Program course offered jointly by Carnegie Mellon University and Qatar Science and Technology Park.

The Georgetown University Library

The Georgetown University SFS-Qatar library supports the learning, teaching, and research goals of students and faculty in the School of Foreign Service, while also serving as a resource for the entire community in Qatar.

The Learning Center School Library

The Learning Center School library has books and teaching materials to support a curriculum designed for students who face learning challenges, yet have average to above-average intelligence. The library provides appropriate materials to help students over the hurdle of low reading levels.

Qatar Academy Library

Qatar Academy libraries support the IB curricula and recreational reading needs of students, teachers and parents with an extensive collection of print, non-print and electronic subscriptions. The school supports the Primary Years Program, the Middle Years Program and the Diploma Program.

TAMUQ Engineering Library collection includes works on chemical, electrical, mechanical and petroleum engineering, and limited materials on general topics.
