What is Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies?
Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies (QFIS) is an international center for Islamic thinking and dialogue that aims to enhance research into Islamic culture. Established in 2007, QFIS is based on the diversity and tolerance of the Islamic Fiqh, or understanding.
Islamic thought and research
QFIS's research centers provide excellent facilities, expert guidance and opportunities for postgraduate students and scholars to investigate individual research topics.
QFIS has six specialized research centers, all focusing on different aspects of Islamic thought and research:
- Al-Qaradawi Center for Research of Moderate Thought
- Islamic Economics and Finance
- Contemporary Muslim Societies
- Governance and Public Policy
- Islamic Urban Planning and Architecture
- Sheikh Muhammad bin Hamad Al-Thani Center for Muslim Contribution to Civilization
Did you know?
- Each year QFIS offers a number of scholarships to the best and brightest international graduate students who show an interest in, and an aptitude for studying key aspects of the Islamic faith and its application. These include Islamic finance, contemporary fiqh and public policy. Students have come from the Middle East, Malaysia and Indonesia.
